Rebecca F

Job title
Communications and Events Manager
Time at the charity
I joined in 2019.
Quick summary of your role
The point of contact for stores and surgeries regarding our adoption pets and assisting with any who are unwell, overseeing our in-store adoption units nationwide, processing vet bills, visiting rescues applying for grant applications, keeping up to date with the latest pet welfare information, advising the rest of the business around rescue pet welfare queries. Spreadsheet guru!
What do you love most about working at Pets Foundation?
Helping pets in need every day – and being able to impact pet welfare on a wide scale. It’s so humbling to see how the funds raised really do make such a difference to unwanted pets. Also, having a wonderful team around me who are as passionate as I am about what we do.
What pet do you have at home?
A Chihuahua cross called Ruby, a Husky called Keisha and 2 ‘false tomato’ frogs.
What’s your favourite type of pet?
It’s hard to choose just one! My first pet was a Syrian hamster so they hold a special place in my heart. I also love guinea pigs and think they make great pets.
What is your most memorable rescue experience?
A bird rescue I talked to recently told me about how one of their resident parrots constantly swears at the visitors coming into the centre, which made me laugh! We hear so many inspiring and heart-warming stores from the rescues we work with, keep an eye on ‘Our Impact’ for just some of these.
What are you most excited for this year at the Foundation?
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse I’m always wanting to learn more and keep my qualifications relevant. I’m currently studying for a certificate in the Human-Animal bond as I find the mental and physical benefits of pet ownership fascinating, and will be a really useful the addition of our new People and Pet criteria.
Where are you most likely to be found in your job?
With my nose in a textbook, watching a webinar or chatting to someone about a case, coffee in hand!
