Cats Protection – Tobermory, Babble and Midnight

In July 2023, we awarded Cats Protection Sutton, Kingston and District branch a £10,000 grant towards its boarding and vet bills. The primary need in the local area is rescuing and rehoming abandoned kittens and cats. The charity relies on fosterers and commercial boarding. It has approximately 42 volunteers, and in 2022, the branch rehomed 89 cats and kittens!

The grant funding it received helped them care for the many cats in their care, such as Tobermory, Babble, and Midnight.

Tobermory

Tobermory was left in a cat carrier in a black bin liner and dumped in some bushes on Wimbledon Common. It was by chance that the Wimbledon Rangers found him and contacted the Sutton, Kingston & District branch. The place he was left in was not one where he was likely to be found, so whoever left him was not concerned about his welfare. He now has another name and a lovely forever home, which gives him lots of time to sleep and dream of the good days ahead.

Babble

Babble, a nice, friendly young male cat sporting a beautiful, sleek black coat, was handed in as a stray. The rescue discovered that he was not keen on men, so they made an appeal for a single female adopter who had plenty of time to give him lots of love. After months of waiting, he’s now in his forever home.

Midnight and her kittens

During the summer, someone called the branch out to a cat and kittens living on a roof. The mother cat, Midnight, was young and frightened. It took a few weeks to gain their trust, but the branch volunteers rescued all the kittens and the mother cat. The kittens have all been rehomed. Bean, who was so tiny, had to wait until she was bigger and could be neutered before going to her new home.
