On #nationalblackcatday, we want to celebrate these fabulous felines!

Did you know that around half of the cats at Cats Protection are black or black and white? While they're not as overlooked as they used to be, they still wait longer to find their forever home than other, brighter colours.

Black cats are just as loving as any other feline friend!

Just look at Tinsel, a beautiful black cat who found her happily ever after thanks to Cats Protection. After receiving the care she needed, she's now thriving in her new home.

Read her story here and find out how you can help moggies like Tinsel: www.petsfoundation.co.uk/case-study/tinsel-finds-new-home-after-surgery

Willy a beautiful big boy rescued from Cats Protection x

Happy Black Cat Day! And thanks to a grant from Pet Foundation Cheshire Cats Rescue - Registered Charity 1198649 is able to help even more cats of every colour, like my beautiful black foster cat Marvin 😻

Our beautiful tinker bell. She was my first pet and she so gentle and loving and always sleeps by my side.

This is a little orphaned diva that I’m currently bottle feeding. She does eat solid food, but demands a bottle.

Black cats are great. Here’s my Jet.

I don't have black cats but I paint lots of them.

My Annie, "The Boss " 😍

Margot & Mathilda cats 🐈 😻 🐈‍⬛️ 🐾🐾

My big boy xx ❤️

I love my black cat. The last black was a female now my Buddy is a male and a real beauty

Pepsi

Mathilda cat 🐈 😻 🐈‍⬛️ ♥️ 🐾

next door use to feed a kitten that got into his garden when it was a 2 I aid dont feed it you have 2 of your own so I took over shes 4 now and I trained her well shes around 4 now and made herself well at home

Have always had at least one black cat all my life and loved them all so much have got one black and one ginger at the moment xx

Black cats so adorable 😍

I have a black and white cat l rescued she is adorable love her so much xx🐈‍⬛❤️❤️

Having had two black sister cats and an unrelated black Tom living amicably together with a dog I’d say they were more loving. Although they had each other for play and company which might’ve helped. The beautiful tabby and white I adopted after the last one died is apt to nip for attention and waves her tail more than any cat I’ve ever known. Of course I love her equally but looks aren’t everything.

This gorgeous boy, ❤️❤️❤️

Our very fluffy tuxedo cat, Mischief

My gorgeous boy Karma x

My cat monsteret passed away 8 months ago she had just had some cream little bit on her face x

Black cats are beautiful,I have been lucky to have several

I prefer. black cats

My Poppy ❤️

Beautiful. I just love black cats.🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛xxx

The RSPCA Isle of Wight, an independent centre, was thrilled when we gave them the news that they’ve been awarded a grant of £18,000 towards vet bills and utility costs!

The funds are making a difference to the pets in their care, like Kovu 🥰 while they wait for their forever home.

This sweet pup came to them through no fault of his own, and it was discovered that he had mild hip dysplasia and would require physiotherapy to build up muscle mass on his back legs as he had little to no muscle.

Once the team was able to get Kovu on the road to recovery through physio, his soon-to-be parents from the mainland read about his plight and wanted to meet him straight away.

The team at the centre said, “In the first few meetings Kovu was so nervous but his lovely new pawrents were patient and showed Kovu the love he deserved. It wasn’t long before Kovu was comfortable to travel with his new family to his new home! We’ve recently received an update on how Kovu is settling in – it’s amazing to see how much he has grown in confidence. He loves cuddling on the sofa, going to the beach, he has so many new friends he runs around with and is attending hydrotherapy. It's thanks to grants from the likes of Pets Foundation that we are able to carry out extensive medical assessments to make sure we are doing the best we can for every animal in our care, so they too can have a wonderful fresh start at a happy and healthy life, just like Kovu!”
